Proper Use On The Green

1. Read the green.

2. Find your target line.

3. Using one hand place the putter behind the ball on your target line and roll it heel-to-toe until it is flat.

The raw footage video below demonstrates how the compression of the grass under the putter is a perfect indication as to when the putter is perfectly soled (flat).

In this raw footage, PGA Professional Jimmie Hanlin demonstrates how he sets up and strokes the putt

                                              4. Ensure that your eyes are directly over the ball, which will make the white line on the sole of the putter (running perpendicular to the clubface) disappear. -> Covered by the black line

5. Place your other hand on the handle, spread your feet to comfort, wrists should be relaxed and centered. If your wrists are not centered (pressing or pulling) or your eyes are not centered which will make white line on the sole of the putter (running parallel to the clubface) appear. -> Will not be covered by the green line

6. At this point, none of the white lines should be visible and you’re ready to stroke the ball.

The diagrams below show what proper and improper eye alignment looks like
